Has anyone ever purchased new mattresses from Kijiji or Craigslist in Toronto? If you did, are they legit? What is the quality of them, since some of them are not brand name? They're considerably cheaper than buying them from Sears or Leons. If you have any recommendations of cheap good quality mattresses, shoot them here.

officer_juice replied: "I would not recommend it as I purchased from an ad and had a spring pop out after a month. Buy from a mattress store."

Allie replied: "Why do you think they're selling them on these sites? They can't vouch for the quality and are impossible to contact if you want to return it. You may save money now, but in the long run you'll just have to buy another mattress."

What's the best way to find a nice, clean temporary furnished room in Toronto besides Craig's list & Kijiji I need a temporary furnished room in Toronto within walking distance of Bathurst and Dupont. My budget is approx $450 including parking. Any ideas? I've already posted on Craig's list and looked on sublet.com and the roommate sites. thanks, d

Is it true that Toronto Ontario is infested with cockroaches? I was going to buy a nice piece of used furniture off of Kijiji in Toronto on Ca but I am hearing that I should be careful because I could end up getting cockroaches here in my own home in Barrie On Canada if they live in the furniture that I purchase in Toronto? Any help appreciated.

Z replied: "Toronto is not infested per se; it has as many cockroaches as any other city in the more southern part of Canada. No matter - always ALWAYS double and triple check the cleanliness of any piece of used furniture."

kirsten a replied: "no but vancouver does!!!!!!they have a major bed bug issue going on including $$$$$$$ hotels!!!"

SteveN replied: "When purchasing any item off eBay or Kijiji, you have no idea who it was owned by, and what conditions it was in before it arrived at your house. It could be sold by a sweet old lady that just does not need the furniture anymore, or it may have been in a house that was infested with a mold problem, or with bugs. My advice would be that you inspect the furniture before bringing it into your home. For upholstered furniture, a good cleaning of the material and wipe down of the wood/metal pieces is in order. As for a cockroach infestation, they are present in any unclean environment, wherever they can find food and the right living conditions. And they are hard to kill. It would be naive of me to say that Toronto has no roaches, but I would not describe the city as infested or having a roach problem. You may want to ask the seller what area of Toronto that the furniture is coming from. This may help you decide if there is a higher chance of a vermin or bug issue. For example, in Montreal, we tend to have more cases of cockroaches reported in the Cotes-des-Neiges area for some reason. If I were buying furniture from that area, I would certainly consider having it cleaned and/or fumigated before bringing it into my house."

JuanB replied: "I'd be cautious with bedbug infestations many large cities have had in recent years. Here is a link to a map showing all the reports for Toronto. Keep in mind, this is only the reports of people who went to the site and filed."

Tracy M replied: "It really depends on where you get the furniture from. As long as you spray it and clean it before it enters your home you should be fine."

Louise On The Edge replied: "I think that is hilarious! Toronto does not have a cockroach infestation! I've lived here my whole life and have never had cockroaches!! AND I was an Antique dealer for years and never once have I come across a cockroach in anything I have sold. That being said... anytime you buy something that is used-from ANYWHERE- just give it a good look over... better safe than sorry. ;-) I wouldn't shy from buying that piece of furniture! That's crazy. Good Luck!"

Does anyone need a ticket for the Jonas Brothers World Tour in Toronto? See my for-sale add on kijiji for details! E-mail me at if interested.

David replied: "if a ticket cost more then a dime its to much - their not worth it"

A replied: "I agree with David."

Wake Up replied: "I've gotta be honest, I don't think anyone needs a ticket to see the Jonas Brothers play anywhere, and anyone who is truly into music will never want a ticket to see the Jonas Brothers play anywhere, regardless how much you pay them, cuz lord knows they'll never pay for that ticket."

where can i sell my authentic lilac balenciaga? Its the work size. I posted it on Craigslist toronto and kijiji toronto but no biters yet... Also any more suggestions other than ebay? I dont like how i have to pay ebay and paypal a chunk of the money, it's going to be a lot for a balenciaga!

Grace replied: "ebay.com seems to work."

pɐǝɥpǝɹ ǝɥʇ replied: "Sell it on eBay :) Send me a link, I might buy it :P"

VuittonLuver replied: "there are a few ways: become a supporting member (for as little as $5) and then list it in their classifieds area. It is totally free. You have to have real pictures and post a picture of your collection so that they know you are legit. You may not get a sale quickly if you just list it but if you get to know the ladies there you would probably sell it fast. its new and totally legit"

What are some good free classifieds in Toronto? I am starting up a daycare in my home, and I have already posted in Kijiji and Craigslist, but I am getting few responses since there are so many people also posting for the same services. Are there other free or very affordable places to post that you know of? Thanks!

Lukene replied: "you posted in the 2 biggest web sites. You might consider SEO or SEM"

SSandecki replied: "Many local schools in your neighboorhood probably offer free advertising when it comes to daycare. They usually like to have references to give to the parents when requested. Try calling around to your local schools and see what they say. Internet advertising for such a local based project as yours might not yield that promising of results, I would stick to other methods and allocate your time accordingly."
